Students enrolled at the Pahokee Beacon Center
after school program traveled by bus recently to the
Boca Raton Museum of Art for a two-hour visit.
The excursion was part “Discovering Art” - a joint
venture between ArtStart and the Girl Scouts of Palm
Glades Council. The purpose of the program, which
is funded by a Mosaic Fund grant awarded by the
Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin
Counties, is to introduce students to the women who
have made an impact on the art world. Along with
the museum visit, the students have been receiving
hands-on art instruction from ArtStart’s Jeannette
Pomeroy Parssi, and will soon have a chance to
meet other professional artists.
